Recipes in a Jar

These make great gifts for friends and family for every occasion from Christmas to birthdays, to mothers day's and even just a pick me up for someone who is feeling down.

For these recipes you will need a jar that holds around 1 quart or 1.130 litres.
If your jar is airtight add the ingredients directly otherwise place them into
an airtight or ziplock bag and attach the recipe card instructions.

Tie the whole jar up with some cellophane or add some curling ribbons and a bow to finish off this gift

Jar Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups quick oats
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chocolate chips
1 1/3 cups flour mixed with 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt
Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide mouth caning jar. press each
layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient

Tag Instructions:
1. Empty jar of cookie mix into a large mixing bowl, blend mix together
2. Add:
1 stick butter melted (4 ounces, approximately 125 grams).
1 egg slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3. Mix until completely blended
4. Shape into balls the size of walnuts place 2 inches apart on sprayed baking
sheets
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 to 13 minutes until edges are lightly browned . cool
5 minutes on baking sheet. remove cookies to racks to finish cooling. makes 3 dozen
cookies.

i make cowboy cookies all the time!!! i love them! why didn't i tink of this

These look so nice! But add the flour first! Then the cho. chips and pecans. Then Brn sugar, sugar and oats last. I tried several different ways and this was best. Also, really pack each layer down or you can't get it all in the jar!
