Herbal Tinctures- Basics
1 cup of Dried herbs
1 cup of Vodka
Herbal tinctures are a concentrated infusion and have a longer shelf life. Herbal tinctures contain 40% alcohol. The alcohol should be a minimum of 60% proof.
The alcohol preserves and breaks down the plant material.
Place the herbs in a jar and pour over the vodka. Seal the jar and allow it to sit for 2 weeks, shaking twice a day.
Strain and filter the mix through a coffee filter or muslin cloth.
Store in a dark cool stable environment.
