  • Crochet cotton (I use "Jewel" by Peaches and Cream)
    Size G hook
    Nylon scrubbie

This is an easy crochet pattern for a scrubbie dish cloth.

Directions for scrubbie:

Foundation: Around the rubber band end of the scrubbie, evenly stitch 10 single crochet. Join.

Round 1: DC in each SC around. This forms the center of the rose. Do NOT join.

Round 2: 2 DC into post of each SC from the FOUNDATION row. Do NOT join.

Round 3: 2 DC into the post of each DC from round 2. Fasten off. It's that simple.

I love the scrubbie but cannot figure out about the rubber band to begin with. the only ones I have used have been made out of a net material. Do not know how wide to cut the net or what size hook to use. I have not made then someone has always given then to me but would like to try and make one.

This pattern can also be used with strips of netting to make a pot scrubber that is safe to use on non-stick cookware and to wash in the dishwasher. They last a long time, too!

A general note about knitted and crocheted dish scrubbers and dishrags: cotton is fabulous, and doesn't scratch anything. It's also absorbent. I have cotton cloths I use to clean counters. But I found that using acrylic yarn instead gives me a scrubber that won't scratch. We don't have a dishwasher, so things like tea and coffee eventually stain our mugs, but with a little effort and an acrylic scrubber, the stains come off. The acrylic yarn isn't as absorbent as the cotton, but it takes the egg right off the breakfast plates.

I've been making scrubbies for a long time in knit. I am better at crocheting so this is a great pattern for me. I will be able to make them faster now!
